For twenty years, the Port Jefferson Documentary Series has curated award-winning, first-run documentaries that you could only see traveling the festival circuit or by going into the city. PJDS has brought thoughtful, provocative and entertaining films along with conversations with noted directors and subjects like Abigail Disney and former Senator and New York Knick Bill Bradley. PJDS has also provided a chance to meet old friends and make new ones while engaging with the topics in the films in unique ways. You won’t have the chance to meet and pet a rescued owl, take in an up-cycled fashion show from young designers or share a dessert with local volunteer organizations while sitting at home watching Netflix! PJDS is more than a movie, it’s community.

The 30th celebration of the Annual Charles Dickens Festival arrives this year on
December 5 & 6, 2026. Created in 1995 (no, not new math! 2020 was Covid canceled), the Festival has been a mainstay, signature event for the Village of Port Jefferson, Long Island and New England, drawing an average of 26,000 visitors spanning two days. Our attendees come from all 50 states and upwards of 60 per year coming in from the EU and Britain. With a colorful troope of 120 Street Characters, live musical events in the four Churches and a Magic Show taking place in the Masonic Lodge, the Village is filled with seasonal joy while celebrating Charles Dickens’ classic works. From Tiny Tim’s Train Station featured in the Harbormaster Building on West Broadway to Santa Claus Central located at the First United Methodist Church. From events at the Village Public Library and Theatre Three to the Village Center featuring the second floor Festival of Trees and, this year returning, the Charles Dickens Creative Study. The third floor features A Christmas Carol Radio Show and special musical performances including Buddy Merriam. A grand presentation for the young and the young at heart - a splendid time is guaranteed for all.

The Charles Dickens Festival is an immersive event averaging over 26,000 visitors from the North Shore area around Port Jefferson, across Long Island, the northeast, all 50 states and Europe. While the most iconic, we also produce the Fiddle & Folk Festival in Setauket at Benner’s Farm and the Sea Music Festival and Cedar Beach Blues on the Harbor Festival in Port Jefferson. Our Port Jefferson Documentary Series has won the Best Film Festival on Long Island nine years in a row and features award winning documentary films with a follow up Q&A usually by the director (many have won Academy Awards). But that is not all for film! We joined the ITVS Indie Lens Pop Up series with PBS and Channel 21 at LIM and the Middle Country Library along with a new monthly FILM@LIM series with the Long Island Museum.
Our Sunset Concert Series and WinterTide Concert Series feature musicians playing their original music. This format expands the audience horizons for the performers while gifting new musical adventures to our concert goers. A Win-Win! We attract artists from around the world. We produce the Sunday Street Concert Series at LIM offering national and international journeymen performers. We also feature Classical Plus, a classical music, in-house series performed in a private home with wonderful performances with a presentation about the composers and the era they wrote their compositions. Last, but certainly not least, we feature special performance concerts with special performers each year – very magical!
